Full Stack Human

Hey citizens of the world,

Last month, we had the privilege of presenting at the inaugural SXSW Sydney! We’ve ticked some pretty big events off our FC bucket list in 2023 and SXSW was one of the highlights.

The festival connected local audiences with some of world’s greatest thinkers and innovators across technology, science, AI, creative arts, film and music. Since 1987, SXSW has become the starting point for many successful startups, proving “that the most unexpected discoveries happen when diverse topics and people come together.”

For us, it was the perfect stage to launch our new topic “Full Stack Human.” This talk has been brewing behind the scenes for a while. Back in June we celebrated our 10th anniversary, and this keynote marks an exciting new era for Future Crunch.

Backed by a decade of research, lived experience and a tidal wave of exponential technology and human progress, Full Stack Human is a software update for your mind designed to help people thrive and create better ways of doing things in the 21st century.

“Human nature hasn’t changed, but thanks to technology, it’s best and worst aspects have been amplified. We can’t change our basic biological wiring, and that’s making it harder to keep up. But the good news is that we can change our programming - how we take in information, how we turn that into lived experience, and how we use it to show up in the world.”

Ok, give me the pitch

The future belongs to the Full Stack Human, a term inspired by computer programmers who are the Swiss army knives of the development world. Fluent in both culture and code, they're able to work across the entire development process. From the front to the back end, they can seamlessly transition from one environment to the next. They're driven by a boundless sense of curiosity - it’s not enough to know that something works, they need to understand the how and why behind each functionality.

In this entertaining and mind-expanding presentation, the Future Crunch team explores how the same, Full Stack concept applies to our lives. Most of us use a limited set of tools, trying to solve our problems the same way again and again, and often ignore our more hidden backend systems. Audiences will learn why carefully curating your information diet (the data you take in), applying new approaches to problem-solving (tuning your algorithms), and harnessing the power of storytelling (user interface) can be superpowers in today's world.

Who would benefit from this talk?

  • Any human or living being or plant…

  • Everyone needs a software update - no matter what industry, age, position.

  • Full Stack Human is an industry agnostic experience that gives everyone tools to thrive, expand and enjoy.

Sneak peek…

“When algorithms determine our experiences and where every byte of knowledge is at our fingertips, there’s immense value in curating stories, ideas, information, statistics and content that you happened to have gathered along your journey.

People need a guide. Your boss needs a guide, your team need one, the people you collaborate with need you to wade through the noise and deliver a signal.

Whatever your field - one of the best things you can do it help the people around you understand what to pay attention to. And when you find those things, drive it like you stole it.”

Here’s what our SXSW audience thought

With over 100 other sessions running over the course of the day we were thrilled that our session was a full house.

Future Crunch, co-founder Tané Hunter and senior speaker and content creator Shasta Henry delivered their presentation to an engaged and bamboozled audience. All our hard work and passion for this talk paid off with glowing reviews leaving the audience curious to learn more. Don’t take it from us, here’s what some people had to say:

“Full Stack Human presentation by Shasta Henry and Tané Hunter of Future Crunch was 💯. Insightful, well thought out, presented in a highly engaging manner, awesome content, professional, funny - the benchmark so far!”

James Clampett - Principal of Insight & Foresight

“One of the highlights from Day One was Full Stack Human by Shasta Henry and Tané Hunter from the brilliant Future Crunch [a newsletter 100% subscribing to]. We are not going to learn what to do next by looking up the answer on google; we need to play, experiment, and try new things.”

Steph Clarke - Futurist & Facilitator

“The absolute standout for me was Full Stack Human by Shasta Henry and Tané Hunter of Future Crunch. If you ever get a chance to see that talk, TAKE IT.”

That’s it for this special edition. We’ll be back in your inbox next month with our annual “99 Good News Stories You Probably Didn't Hear About in 2023.” Until then, we’d like to leave you with three good news stories that you probably didn't hear about. Did you know:

  1. 50 million children have been lifted out of extreme poverty in the last decade.

  2. The World Health Organisation just approved an effective new malaria vaccine.

  3. Global emissions are now on track to peak in 2025 before falling to 2015 levels by 2030.

Remember, there’s a big planet out there and progress is always happening, even if it doesn’t make the headlines.

Take care,
